Allen Gil
Allen Gil is a Master of Forest Science ‘26 candidate pursuing research with Prof. Karen Seto on spatio-temporal fragmentation of urban mangrove ecosystems in Southeast Asia using geospatial and machine learning approaches. Allen also completed an MSc in Environmental Science at the University of the Philippines Los Baños doing research on post-disaster recovery assessment of mangrove forests after catastrophic typhoons using remote sensing and geospatial analysis. At The Forests Dialogue (TFD), Allen supports the Bioenergy from Forests Initiative in the Western and Southern US and the Ecological Restoration Initiative in Brazil. Allen’s professional experience includes working in policy research on geoinformation systems-based climate-smart agriculture in the Philippines, environment and sustainability education, grassroots climate action and community organizing, and positive youth development.
