Jose, originally from Colombia, is a Master of Environmental Management ’28 candidate at the Yale School of the Environment and a Three Cairns Scholar. His academic and professional interests center on how business, policy, and collaborative governance can contribute to more sustainable and inclusive natural resource management.

Before Yale, Jose worked across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in Latin America, most recently with the Alliance for Responsible Mining, where he led projects and multi-stakeholder processes to advance more inclusive and sustainable mining practices. His experience spans natural resource governance, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability, bringing together governments, communities, companies, academia, and international organizations to address complex environmental and social challenges.

Jose holds a Master of Public Policy from Universidad de los Andes and a B.A. in Politics and International Relations from Universidad Sergio Arboleda in Colombia. At Yale, he aims to deepen his expertise in collaborative governance and cross-sector partnerships to advance sustainable and inclusive natural resource management.
