Mark Wishnie is Chief Sustainability Officer and Head, Impact Investment Management at the BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group (TIG). Mark is responsible for sustainability across the firm’s ~3 million acre / $5.7 billion global timberland portfolio (as of August 2023) and leads the firm’s climate-focused investment practice. Mark joined BTG from global non-profit The Nature Conservancy, where he led the organization’s Global Forestry & Wood Products program. Previously, Mark served as head of portfolio management, analytics, and research at TIG, co-founded and served as Managing Director of Equator, LLC, a timberland and environmental commodity investment company, directed a joint research program of the Smithsonian Institution and Yale University focused on tropical forest restoration, and served as Program Director of the Yale Tropical Resources Institute. Mark’s research has been published in journals such as Sustainability, Forest Ecology and Management, Conservation Biology, and The Annual Review of Anthropology. Mark holds a BS in Forest Management from the University of Washington and a Master of Forest Science from Yale University.
