Candice has over 20 years’ experience in sustainability and socio-economic development, the last 5.5 years with The New
Forests Company (NFC) in East Africa as their Chief Impact Officer. She has an undergraduate business degree with an
Honors in International Relations from Wits University in Johannesburg and an MSc in Global Challenges from Edinburgh
University. Candice started her career at Toyota in their marketing department before various roles in management consulting, which led her to Ericsson in the telecommunications space, where she pursued her passion for community development and led Technology For Good projects in Africa and the Middle East before progressing to become the Head of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility in Sub Saharan Africa. After 10 years with Ericsson and wanting to tackle climate change, Candice made the shift to Forestry and since 2018 she has raised more than USD $2 million for environmental protection and community development projects in East Africa working with NFC. Since 2021 she has led an afforestation-based carbon credits project in Uganda with Verra/VCS, focused on conservation areas and community smallgrowers. Through participation with WWF NGP, she has grown her passion for people-centered development in nature-based solutions. Active in the regional forestry community, Candice participated in a WWF panel at the World Forestry Congress in 2022 and a remote WWF / DFCD panel at COP27 on African forestry investment. In 2023 she also presented at a South African Forestry Conference. Each year she produces the NFC annual Sustainability Impact Report, following the GRI guidelines, available at www.newforests.earth
