Xiyao grew up in Beijing and studied in Singapore. Inspired by her hiking trips into diverse landscapes and ecosystems in Asia, she majored in Environmental Studies at Yale-NUS College. With an interdisciplinary training, she is fascinated by how the social and natural systems are entangled to create environmental change. After graduation, she worked with a sustainability-driven agri-foodtech VC in Singapore. She has also worked with ENGOs on climate change and agroecology in China. 

 

As a first-year candidate for Master of Environmental Science at Yale, she hopes to deepen her knowledge of the environmental and climate challenges and solutions around land-use change.
