New Haven, CT – Multiple options are being used by companies to ensure effective stakeholder and community engagement and consent in forest landscapes, suggests a new report by The Forests Dialogue (TFD) in collaboration with The Program on Forests (PROFOR) at the World Bank.

On 4 September 2015, The Forests Dialogue will be launching its newest initiative, Intensively Managed Planted Forests 2 (IMPF 2), in Durban, South Africa with a Scoping Dialogue. TFD will bring together over 25 leading international stakeholders representing the private sector, NGOs and local communities and rights holders to explore issues have evolved since TFD’s previous IMPF dialogue over six years ago and to map out issues that show promise for progress for in-depth discussion in future field dialogues.

TFD and its partners will be at this year’s World Forestry Congress in Durban, South Africa, from 7-11 September 2015. The XIV World Forestry Congress, the first to take place in Africa, will bring together the global forestry community to review and clarify the importance of forests as an integral part of sustainable development and to identify and discuss the major issues facing the forest sector.

TFD is pleased to launch the Co-Chairs’ Summary Report from the recent field dialogue on Understanding Deforestation-Free in Indonesia. We also have finalized a short video summarizing the dialogue, which can be viewed below.

On April 29th until May 2nd, The Forests Dialogue (TFD) will bring Indonesian communities, NGOs, companies and government officials together with international organizations in the Riau Province of Sumatra to discuss the implementation of deforestation-free commitments in the region.
